Forehead and Brows

Forehead: Forehead and brow wrinkles are best treated with Botox-Cosmetics®.In Germany, Botox-Cosmetics® is named Vistabel®. Only in extreme cases, open surgery may be advisable. Botox treatment is efficient for treatment and prophylaxis, started early enough. In case of very deep wrinkles, additional treatment with a non permanent filler may be necessary.

Eyelid surgery

Upper eyelids: One of the most frequently performed smaller interventions. Abundant upper eyelid skin, often combined with sunken brows account for a tired and even sad facial expression. Sometimes eyelids already need corrections at age 30+. The crucial point is to determine preoperatively, if there is a sunken brow. If the answer is "yes" correction is mandatory to acheive an excellent result. The brow surgery is discussed elsewhere.

Baggy eyelids

"Baggy eyelids" account for a sad and tired expression and are - falsely - related to alcohol abuse. The anatomical reason is protruding periorbital fat in the lower eyelid region. Those patients with baggy eyelids but firm and elastic skin may well benefit from transconjunctival surgery, supplemented by microsurgical minimally invasive techniques.This technique offers treatment without any visible scar.

Face lifting

Beforehand we would like to make some comments on modern facial surgery: The process of aging leads, amongst others to a loss off tissue and skin elasticity and - more recently recognized as such - a redistribution of the fatty tissues in the face.

Double chin

The most frequent reason for a so called double chin or fatty chin is fat accumulation in the submental area, sometimes additionally in the submuscular (subplatysmal) area. Younger patients do not need a skin correction, but need a meticulously performed liposuction, and sometimes an open fat resection of a suplatysmal fat pad through a very limited submental approach.

Chin augmentation

We often see patients asking for nose corrections or double chin corrections who would best be treated with additional chin augmentation. Harmonious results may be obtained using allografts for the chin region. The allografts are made of premolded solid silicone, individually customized. Insertion is transoral or through a small skin incision. The look and feel is indiscernible from natural bone.
