Alopecia Contentionalis
Over 70% of men and an increasing number of women suffer from hair loss, called alopecia. After ruling out hormonal disorders, a new treatment can be offered, if alopecia contentionalis is suspected.
What is alopecia contentionalis?
From resarch we know that hair follicles suffer from impaired blood flow if there is too much action of the muscles of the skull. We examine these muscles and, if a hyperactivity can be proven by EMG (Electromyography), a Botulinumtoxin-treatment can be considered.
This treatment aims at relaxing the hyperactive skull muscles, thus providing better blood flow to the hair follicles.
